I know some of you give your uros bird seed. What kind exactly do you offer? My breeder suggested Pretty Bird Finch Pellets but I cannot find those anywhere around here. Thanks.

Any small bird seed can be used, doesn't have to be finch, could be love bird, canary anything like that, the basic ingredient is millet anyway, so try plain millet seed. I've used cockateil mix with mine, but as usual he buries it the substrate anyway ...:p

I had to order Pretty Bird offline because it was not available in my area either.

You can offer plain millet, or as bruno said any bird seed that is primarily millet. You want to make sure that they are not eating TONS of millet because its not as good for them as their veggies.

You can also feed them: rep-cal iguana pellets, mazuri tortoise pellets, 10 bean soup mix (with the kidney beans removed) ground up in a coffee grinder.

For my uro i offer a dish of veggies daily and also have a dish with a mixture of millet seed and the above ingredients.

Mine already eats mazuri and the ground up bean soup. Most of the bird seen I see has added vitamins and minerals. Not sure about that either.

You can usually fine plain millet at feed stores such as "blue seed"

The pretty bird pellets, or even rep-cal iggy pellets are better though if you can procure some of those.
