Hey, I wondering if someone could help me out, I have a few questions about feeding bugs to my uro. I currently have a yellow saharan uro, about 6-8 months or so... Its about 8-10 inchs or so, amazing condition, and has an amazing appitite.
Yesterday he ate 24 crickets.... not all at onces... 12 in the morning and 12 at night.. and the day before that he ate 12 gaint meal worms ( over a two hours span). Im scared that it is maybe too much... hes pooping, and there are no un digested bugs... But the more and more I read about them the more confused i seem to get. I was wondering can anyone recommend an amount of crickets and mealworms that would be okay for them. I give him greens, and fruits and he eats them...

    Any tips would be great!!

    Thanks

Please keep in mind, Uromastyx are herbivores and do not need any insects......(granted when younger, they do need more protein, so at times SOME will feed an occassional insect, (3-4 insects a week while the uro is under 1 year)....... however, in my own opinion, it is best not to offer any insects at all...... Younger Uromastyxs can easily get the extra protein they need from other, safer, sources.....(such as a good supplemental powder dusted on their greens)...Considering your Uromastyx is also eating his greens, it should be easy to sprinkle some Mineral-all or "Uro-dust" on the top of the greens.......In my own opinion, your Uro would benefit from that supplementation, more so than having an excess of insects that can lead to serious health issues....Again, feeding insects to a young/juvenile uromastyx is still a somewhat debatable topic, however, the amount you have listed would be discouraged by pretty much everyone...
Hope this info helps, and please let us know if you have any other questions/concerns
