I am incubating iguana eggs, and everywhere I look I can't find an exact humidity that I should be using. I have a hova bator with the temp set to 84`F, and I've tried the humidity at 80`. I am using super hatch as the medium. I started out using tap water, but switched to distilled since I kept having mold issues. I've tried letting the humidity down and it just makes the eggs cave it. I've lost a lot of eggs, and this happened before with my leopard gecko eggs as well. I know they're fertile, I have both genders of iguana. Is there anything I can do to make sure they don't mold, but still get the humidity they need? And what should be the humidity level? I do have home for the babies, if any of my eggs hatch.

Still haven't found anything out about what the humidity should be. I keep looking and they just give me temps for the heat. If anyone knows what would be a good level of humidity it would really help.

I'm really sorry but I really don't have any info for you, as I've only ever bred crested geckos and leos. But I would suggest (if the same goes for leo eggs as it does for iggys...) do not spray the eggs themselves and try not to have the eggs touching a "puddle" or standing water... when you add the water add it to the sides of the container and not the eggs themselves.
How do you have the eggs set up in the incubator?

Thank you! Any help is good help :D
I have 3 containers in the incubator, each has pre-mixed super hatch that normally keeps the humidity around 75-80`.

Hm.... do the containers have lids on them? And if they do, do they have any holes in the lids?

I have two covered with plastic wrap with a corner lifted on each and the other is in a container with a lid and holes.

Hm... you don't by any chance have the hovabator with the fan right? I know that is a big no no for leo eggs... you can just take it out tho :D

No, I got the basic one. I'm using the Super Hatch mixed with distilled water, one container with plastic wrap as a cover with the corner lifted up, the other container is covered with a lid that has some holes, the temp is 84`,and the humidity is 75-80%. Oddly enough, I don't think the eggs have fully calcified. I know they come out soft, but aren't they supposed to harden after a bit? I'm going to try upping Reiji's calcium in her diet from now on and I'll see if that helps with next years batch.

Sorry again that I can't give you any better advice since I've never done it myself :( Hopefully upping her calcium will help :) Good luck!

That's ok, if it works, I'll be back with all the info on what I did, that way others will have a good reference. :) Somethings are just all about trial and error.

That would definitely be very helpful for future reference! I wish you luck and hopefully things get figured out soon :)
I also was wondering - is this your iggy's 1st time breeding? With most herps the 1st year they usually do not produce young, for various reasons depending on the species so maybe that could be just what this is?

She's laid eggs before. but those were not fertile. This is her first year she's had a mate though. So it maybe just that. The last of the eggs molded through and none of them calcified. I'll have to wait til next year to test the theory, but if all goes well, I will post my results and processes.
    :)
