I tried to find an old thread to post this under, but they are all pretty old and none of the pictures are showing up, so I figured I'll just start a new post...This is for if anyone wants to show off some pictures of their beardie cages. I like looking at other people's setups and seeing people get creative. They don't have to be fancy, just show us what you've got. =D

Here's Loki's current layout. I move things around a lot but the hammock always stays under the basking light or he doesn't really bask, haha...And yeah, I know, his cage is tropical looking but he is a desert critter...deal with it. I DO WHAT I WANT.

Oh my goodness, I literally was just thinking that I am going to start a stickied post in all of the forums of enclosure ideas because I was doing the same thing the other day... looking for the old posts (which I remember when the pics actually worked!) and they were nearly useless now :( Thanks for starting it off in the beardie forum! I'll make it a sticky now.

Everyone: As this will now be a sticky please keep on topic and extraneous posts to a minimum. Thank you!

It's actually a house made for guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats, etc. that they used to sell at PetSmart, but they don't sell it any more. The vents on the sides do kind of look like popsicle sticks, lol!

That came out great, how did you make it ?

Does he use it all, like climb on it, explore?

Epic! I love the colorful thing that looks like a bunkbed to me lol :) I saw how you said it's made for rodents and such from Petsmart, so that's cool. Does he use it for climbing then or what? Also, what size tank is it?(I want to know mostly for my friend with a growing beardie)

And Lisa-that looks pretty nice! What did you make it out of? A clay of somesort? I know there's an Excavating I think it's called product by Zoo Med you can do that with. You even made a nice spot for the dish :) How long did it take?

That's even better! I'm sure it cost less than that Zoo Med Stuff would and is more creative! :) And that wasn't too long to make it, but it probably took less time, since it seems you set your mind to it (y) I need to try something like that(not really the same thing, but just making it myself) for my BP tank.

Nope. He likes to lay on top of them though, haha.

Yep, he climbs on top of it and sits inside of it on the t-shirt too. The tank is a 75 gallon, and after seeing how much Loki uses all of that space, I wouldn't recommend much smaller than that for an adult.

I hope my friend can get hold of a bigger one soon then, she has a 50G currently for her a little over a year old male and he's starting to not have much space. I'll make sure she knows, thanks! :)

And that's cool he'll use it, I'm sure the t-shirt is comfortable for him too! :p

I wouldn't waste your $ on a "starter kit" from any of the major pet stores, most of the items in the kit you wouldn't use or would actually be detrimental to use. It would be best to look out for sales or go on craigslist for all the pieces of an appropriate tank and "furniture" for your size beardie. Please also keep in mind that you will be getting a reptile that may need veterinary care and constant $ being spent on food items (every week) so please look at your finances and ensure that you are capable of affording a new pet before you purchase :)
