Would a pet store be okay, or should i find a breeder? There's a pet shop here that has only reptiles, called House of Reptiles. Has anyone bought from them? What are they like?
If they have Cresties, ask them as many questions as possible about how they are taking care of them. what are they feeding them and how often? Take a look at the cage they keep them in and see if their care is up to snuff. Really do your research and compare it to what they are doing. some pet stores are good with their animal care, but some are simply terrible and only really care about getting money. For example, yesterday I bought an adult female Gargoyle Gecko. I asked the person helping me what they have been feeding it, and they replied that it gets about four crickets a day - which is not a healthy diet for any gecko in their family. First thing i did when I got her home was mix some Crested Gecko Diet and she slurped it up. Just do your research and be prepared to ask them a lot of questions.
I live in Jacksonville, and we have a place right near me named House of Reptiles lol If it is the same place, then I wouldn't recommend buying an animal from them. They have too many animals and can't keep up with them all, which means that a lot of the animals slip through the cracks and get minimal care. I would probably find a reptile show in your area or order one online through a reputable breeder. BUT before buying a gecko you should research the proper care of the animal. Never believe anything people from pet stores tell you, even if they the only thing they sell is reptiles. I make sure I know the animal's specific requirements like the back of my hand before buying one.
Oo i don't know. I actually live near Winnipeg,Canada. I usually buy my reptiles from local breeders around my town. I check classifieds and such for their advertisements and then send then an email or phone with questions.
