My only female anole recently laid an egg...And about a week before that she laid a second one. The first one kind of shrivled and caved in a couple days later. The second one seems to be doing alright and Ive had it for about a week. But I wasnt able to find any vermiculate soil. Either they didnt have any in stock or were sold out at the stores I went to. So I went to the store where I buy their food and talked to the man working there and he told me I can use the bark thats in the bottom of their tank. So I put the first egg in a container and put it back in the tank in an area that was warm but shaded on the other side. I was spraying the bark around it. It shrived within a couple days. I went back to the store and he told me to keep it at room temperature, outside of the tank. So I tried that and so far the egg is doing quite well... So Im guessing you dont need to run out and purchase vermiculate soil if you dont want to or dont have a chance. But Ill let you know how the egg is doing and if it hatches alright. The thing is, my friend noticed her first anole egg lying ontop of the bark in her tank, so she left the egg in the tank and just gently buried it. She told me the crickets seemed to carry it around like a piece of food or something so she chased the cricket away and re-buried it. And by the beginning of the next month she had a gorgeus baby anole hopping around. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And what is reccomended for my female anole. Right after she seemed to lay an egg the one male trys to mate with her. Should I take her out of the tank and make a new habitat for her in a different tank? I heard it will stress her out too much if the male keeps mating with her. But would she be stressed from being alone? Thanks for any recomendations.
