Sorry, I know no one that has that species right now. They are very hard to come by since they are not exported and few have ever been known to gt out of Australia, there are a few lines in Europe.

What about the person he got that one from, do they have others?

And no, we never ignore anyone just because they use another site, we strongly advocate using all sites and information on the web for learning. We use many other sites and post actively on them, the only ones we are not active with are ones that seem to promote a lot of misinformation . Look at our weblink site, we spend a lot of time researching and making sure other sites links are available for users or current information on medical, research and products are got out to people.

We freely allow linking or copying and use of information on this site to other sites also, for us its about learning, not egos .... I don;t know what question you are talking about, but I will seek it out and see what the problem was.

Okay, I looked at the other post from 12/2002 and 1/2003..... I had answered you several times through that thread..... it ended with you saying you had written the breeder again and would post the response, but you never posted the response or after that said that she had not responded

From the previous discussion I assumed that you were tying to get an answer on the age of your dragon you got from her, and although I can look at pics and try to estimate, only she can give you an accurate answer.

As far as anything else she says, I agree and don't see where there could be any question as to what she says. I also thought I had answered you on some other sites about this and said to rethink breeding a female that seems to not have gown or thrived very well herself, no matter what age.

I have several female adults, but there is only one that I would breed this year. Babies being hatched simply for the sake of having them and thinking to sell them off I also think is a poor reason. There are just too many people out there breeding common or unhealthy beardies that have no place to go with proper care. This only contributes to the decline of the gene pool in this country that is very limited to begin with. A breeding project should be more than having a female and male to mate.

You should have a good idea of homes for them to go to, breed for a reason to help the overall industry or be producing a line that is in demand for color or health.

In just several generation in the US, lines are already having problems due to inbreeding or unhealthy genetics.

Personally I feel that unless an animal can shore up that line or its believed they can produces strong healthy babies with good color, owners should not breed them. Of the 10 we have, only one female and male would I consider breeding as they are very hearty, of German Giant stock with no inbreeding and unrelated to each other several generations back. It shows in them and they have both been closely watched and checked by their Vet for the potential and fitness for breeding. We have request for about 24 offspring from them and most those are larger breeders........ but I still have not breed them yet. Everything must be perfect when I do, the female just had a check up and she had some pinworms, very few, but she is outside a lot and had picked some up and I want her in perfect condition as when she will be breed its with the thought that her babies will be very strong and healthy and not like so many clutches currently for sell out there, further degarding the pool

When others see this female they all are struck at the difference in build, health and intelligence between her and other beardies that they had thought was normal for the species.

Smallness is one of the common traits we are seeing in this industry of poor breeding lines.. that's not saying they are ill, but are they fit to continue to add to that line? Egg producing and laying is very taxing on a female, and unless she was fit for it to begin with, it does show in the offspring..... with many not surviving long or later having a host of problems and unable to fight off coccidia naturally on their own or get over it. IMO gout, liver/kidney problems, parasite outbreaks and failure to thrive are all signs of the weakened gene pool of beardies and I don't think any of them already having that in themselves should be breed.

Hey, thanks for answering. Sorry if I came off really strong...that was not my intention. I just went back and re-read what I had...and I was brutal...sorry bout that.

Well, Liz has been doing way better. I figured ou the problem...she was stressed form seeing Giz and she needs some more UVs. So I riged up a UV/heat bulb (she is now growing like a weed [maybe 2-3 inches more]), and put up a tank devider. I was not going to even think about breeding till spring. And I was ognna have them fully checked. I too would make sure that all conditions are right. I have thought about breeding a lot, and I know that I would do fine, IMO. I cant say for sure (due to possible complications and what not). I am not in this for the money, just the love of animals.

Thanks for the info. about Barbetas...I know they are hard to come by, but the people I know have a barbetta and several other verceptis dragons...so that does not work out well for the barbeta. Sorry again about the language.

    Kevin

Oh, PS...I was hinting at the whole AXE vs Beardeddragonmam on the wax worm/supper worm/whole fight (I believe thats what it was about...its been a while)

Thanks again, and I know you are knowledgeable people...infact, I give people some of your info all the time. I know you guys are the truely "good keepers" people talk about.

I did not think you came off strong.. I was concerned a question went unanswered.... it comes down to computer communication.... without seeing facial expressions, it is hard to see the tone people are typing with. I know sometimes people read my post as coming off too strong, thats not my intention... when you see lots of !!!!! :) until then, your safe :D

In that thread, I thought you were going to post more from her, since she had responded once. When nothing else was posted... I assumed that you had gotten your answer from her about the Beardies age and we had discussed this on another thread on another site.....LOL see, I do visit many.

We do strongly advocate other sites with and without forum boards... each time we find a good one, we add it to the web links area of this site... here's one of the most interesting I have found... a gal in Australia that has them around her home and also she's taken pictures of them in the wild.... take a look, I really picked her brain for information and found it so cool! She also links to some photos she has on the web, very interesting discussion and pictures.

    Hey that was cool.

Wow they are tough over there.

I used to have a link to a classified section for beardies. It used to be a long page list type of one, and I lost it. Do you have that link? Any idea what I am talking about?
