A petstore gave me this bearded dragon because one of the other bigger ones attacked him. He went to the vet and they had to amputate half of his tail. They had to give him antibiotics and an ointment for over a month. I took him because I felt sorry for him and wanted to spoil him but he is tromitised. Does any one have any advice for me to let him know I'm not going to hurt him?

Oh, that's terrible. I am not all that experienced (Spike is my first dragon) but from what I've heard it just takes time. Try not to pick him up from the top - this makes them nervous because their natural predators attack from the top. And no sudden movements either. I think time will help him realize he's safe. I hope things are going better. My little guy had surgery about a year and a half ago and he was a little...unsure...afterwards, but with time he is as comfortable (maybe even more) with us than he was before the surgery. I hope that helps.

How long have you had him? Has his surgery healed yet?
