I was curious about beardies, there is a lamp known as Reptisun 10.0 which emits both UVA and UVB and I cant understand something,is UVB a substitude for a basking lamp or does bearded dragon need both a lamp that emits UVB and UVA and a seperate basking lamp?

The long-tube fluorescent ReptiSun 5.0 and 10.0 are excellent bulbs, but avoid the coil bulbs due to potentially dangerous output and/or rapid decay rates. The ReptiSun will not produce heat, but produce the necessary UVB when the beardie is allowed to get within 6-10" of the bulb (required for calcium metabolism, hormone and physiological function).

You will also need a bulb that produces heat to maintain a basking temperature of ~105 degrees F. This can simply be a household incandescent bulb... You do not need a fancy, expensive basking bulb for the heat source so long as you have a supplemental bulb that produces UVB.

    Here is a supplemental post = )
