I was wondering if anyone could give me any website on information for breeding dragons or if anyone knows the info can you give me the basics. One of my main questions is how long does the female take to lay the eggs after the actual mating has occured and what kind of incubator (price?) is needed if any because I have heard that the eggs could be incubated in a room the stays at 83 degrees. Two sites I like are: Melissa Kaplan's www.anapsid.com and Dr. kathryn Tosney's http://biology.lsa.umich.edu/research/labs...ile/BDcare.html There is a lot to know and consider before you breed two dragons, the biggest is the expense involved in raising the offspring and also that both dragons are prime animals and should be breed. To many people realize after the fact that they have a mess on their hands and loss money in the process. Those babies need to be fed and they will eat a lot in the 2-3 months you have to raise them to give them a good start. It is sad to see how many people end up having to sell them to wholesales, mainly because few will survive ot be cared for properly. Unless you have some excellent healthy animals that are unique morphs and will sell for a higher price range, raising clutches of babies is a money loss. You will need several sets up for the babies and also this is the main time in their life that they need good diets, lots of food, supplements, heat and UVB. They have to be separated into groups of 4-5 according to size to avoid them nibbling each others toes and tails and they wake up HUNGRY! Early morning is when most dragons have lost tails or toes to siblings, they need food several times a day to avoid this problem.
Yeah, and 100 bucks worth of crickets a week just for a clutch of 25 babies gets real expensive real quick (especially when you consider a female can lay 100 or more eggs per season).
