I have a 40 gallon long tank (36x19x17") that I can turn on its side making it arboreal. I'd like to get some whites tree frogs. Can I house 3 in the 40 gallon tank? I will get them as babies so I won't know the genders... would there be any male/male fighting, if I end up with multiple males? Would a male and a female breed without me doing anything?

Sorry, I am a newbie to amphibians.... Please excuse my ignorance.

I am faced with the choice of getting either one pacman frog or 3 whites tree frogs. Which would you choose?

I'd get the 3 whites, personally. I prefer tree frogs over pacmans.

A 40 gallon tank will work for 3 whites. I wouldn't use a smaller tank for fully grown whites, but you could start babies in something smaller, if you wanted.

There won't be any fighting, regardless of the gender. They'll all compete for food, but that's nothing to worry about as long as you keep them well fed. They won't breed on their own.
