    It all depends on your geographical location, and availability of licenses.

    Some places it's perfectly legal, in other places, it's not.

    For example, Eastern Indigo snakes are illegal to keep in Florida without a bunch of permits, but they're fine everywhere else.

    Snappers are a concern here, but mine is captive born and the city can't do anything, or so I'm told.
