Booly has been jumping up to the screen under the UVA/B flourescent lately. Sometimes he just sits under it on a leaf, but he flares his dewlap while looking up at the light. Any idea why he would do that? Not concerned... just curious!
Can he see other anoles? Or any other animals? Or, can he even see his reflection in the glass? It's possible it's a territorial display at his own reflection (I've seen some do that in the past).
When he does it, Hobo usually isn't visible to him. It's possible he sees his reflection although the leaves he sits on are pretty high up and usually put him face to face with the plastic trim of the enclosure. Maybe he just knows I'm looking at him and wants to be sure I know that it's his place not mine and to stay clear!
Maybe it's a general territorial display. After Dezzy tried to mate with Cammy, I put him in the Nursery *after protecting the eggs from him and the crickets*. One day, Dezzy was looking brown and, since I had the time to watch over him, I decided to put him back in the Shatterbox and see if that would cheer him up. Once I did, the first thing he did was show his dewlap for about five or ten minutes. Cammy was on the other side of the cage, completely hidden from view *either his or hers*. I'm guessing it was just to say "I'm back; it's MY plant again!"
