I've been watching this guy outside my window for the past months. It was a real small hatchling when i first saw it and i notice it had a BRIGHT BRIGHT red/orange head, i was determind to get this guy. Now ive gotten my knees dirty a million times, jumping in bushes, getting my face in the dirt, he allways slipped away, but today !!! I GOT HIM!!!!!! YES!!!!! Question: Is this red head going to be geneticly able to carry to his/her offspring? id like to find a mate for him/her that has a distinct color in the head just like him. I im thinkin its a female. Question 2: What would be a good name. http://www.theleohut.com/gallery/redanole1.jpg http://www.theleohut.com/gallery/redanole2.jpg http://www.theleohut.com/gallery/redanole3_highres.jpg
i forgot to add that sence i just now caught him right after pics he/she has turned much darker because of stress , head gets WAY more red.
2nd day with no one to answer ?? i Really wanna know if thats a genetic trate that will goto the offspring.
I THINK I CAUGHT HER BROTHER!!!! YES!!! i still cant believe after 20 years living at this house i've never seen a normal anole with these bright colors, ive been keeping a eye out for a brother/mother/father with the same orange/red head and i found another! Same spot! Right by my window, a male! So i know i can breed them now. I hoping to stumble on the mom / dad full grown with that color head. I still cant believe i just caught another, a lil bigger than her in the pics. SISTER http://www.theleohut.com/gallery/redanole5.jpg BROTHER http://www.theleohut.com/gallery/redanole6.jpg
Awe, thats a cute little anole. I remember when I was little I used to catch them in Texas and my mom would get all mad cause I brought them in the house. I think I may have caught some that looked like that too. They're neat.
I could be mistaken, but I think I've read somewhere that the females have red heads. I live in South Florida, & see tons of those red-headed little guys all the time.
Should you be breeding brothers and sisters???? just a question, I know absolutely nothing about these guys. I'm just doing a little research.
it looks cool, but like janice said, im not so sure they should breed they could both be hurt, and/or the offspring may not live.
yeah...but are you sure they are related at all? it could just be coinsidence that they resemble in colour.
