    Forum-Wide Policies!

Please read the rules and regulations of this site and become familiar with them. By posting anywhere on this board you agree to it. If a rule is broken you shall be warned and your post(s) or user profile may be modified.

Remember, we are all here to help and learn from each other, and while it would be nice to have a site without rules, these are necessary in order to maintain the friendly atmosphere the site has experienced thus far. Please try to follow them in order to make this a nice place for our existing and new users to visit.

    Forum Rules
    • Commercial Links
links to your website, personal or commercial are to be placed in your profile. Please do not place links to your commercial website in your signature. They will be removed.
    • Posts are to be made in the relevant forum. Users are asked to read the forum descriptions before posting. Users consistently posting to the wrong forum may be given a warning (see policing below). If you have a question about Bearded Dragons, there's no point putting it in the Leopard Geckos forum.
    • User accounts shall only be used by those who registered them, this means no account sharing is tolerated. Do NOT give your password to anyone.
    • Members should post in a way that is respectful of other users and this site. Flaming or abusing users in any way will not be tolerated and will lead to a warning.
    • Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Users linking to or asking for information on warez, crackz, etc. or re-printing material without permision will receive a warning and their post will be removed. The definition of cracks also includes, but is not limited to, threads or links pertaining to the subject of cicumventing any security or privacy measures intentionally placed by manufacturers in their hardware and/or software.
    • Members should post in a way consistent with "normal writing". That is users should not post excessive numbers of emoticons, large, small or coloured text, etc. Similarly users should not SHOUT or use excessive punctuation (e.g. ! and ?) in topic titles or posts. Finally "chatspeak" is NOT allowed (e.g. i wan dat, plz fone me). Users consistently abusing this will be warned.
    • Members should use an appropriate, descriptive title when posting a new topic. Examples of bad titles include; "Help me!", "I'm stuck!", "NEED HELP NOW!", etc. Examples of good titles include; "Questions regarding Bearded Dragon Impaction", "Eggbinding in Leopard Geckos", etc.
    • Members are welcome to use the test forum for general "test purposes". These may include checking signatures, testing a link or image, etc. (subject to previous points on decency, warez, etc.). Users posting in the test forum just to increase their post counts will be warned.
    • Spam is not tolerated and will be deleted. Users posting spam will be warned and their post removed. Persistent spammers WILL be banned. This also applies to users that have a PATTERN of referring people to their or other sites and not answering the questions. If it appears the post is just to redirect and promote another site it will be removed, the poster warned and if it continues, banned. Links to other forum website indexes are considered spam and will be removed.
    • Classifieds, "For Sale" and "Wanted" ads are only allowed in the classifieds forum. This includes offering animals for sale, cages, accessories, services, etc.
    • Posts of a religious or political nature are not valid topics of discussion on ReptileBoards.com. These posts will be deleted immediately upon being spotted by a moderator, and the user will be warned.
    • Posts or threads discussing subject matter of an illegal nature will be deleted on sight. The user may be warned or banned instantly.
    • Remember, everybody else is as entitled to their opinion as you are to yours. As long as debates remain civil, there will be no problems. As stated, flame wars and abuse will not be tolerated here. The posts will be removed and the users warned.
    • Do not make duplicate posts. There is no need to make several copies of the same post in different areas. Duplicate threads will be erased/merged, and the originator warned.
    • If somebody posts asking a question, do not tell users to simply "Google it". If you feel this is the only way you can respond to a specific post, then simply do not respond.
    • The moderating, support and other teams reserve the right to edit or remove any post at any time. The determination of what is construed as indecent, vulgar, spam, etc. as noted in these points is up to Team Members and not users.
    • The above forum rules where applicable also apply to private messaging. Abuse of the private messaging system may lead to warnings (as above) and/or the revokation of private messaging.

      • Signatures
        • Signatures must be no more than 3 lines of text (1 line being a screen-width at 800x600 resolution), and may contain up to ONE (1) link to an external URL.
        • Signatures may, alternatively, consist of a single image up to 468x60 pixels in size and up to 25KB in filesize, as well as a single line of text. Again, you may only link to a single URL. You could have both your image & text point to the same URL, but they must not point to different URLs.
        • Text in signatures is subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, warez, emoticons, etc. While signatures may include a link, your signature is not to be used for the purposes of spam and begging users to click or join your site will not be tolerated.
        • We do not allow promotion or linking to other reptile forums in signatures. If these links, banners, or promotional text are found, they will be removed from the user's signature and the user warned. A second breach of this rule will result in a ban.

          • Avatars
            • Users are permitted to utilize a gallery avatar or to upload one of their own. User defined avatars are to be no larger than 80 pixels by 80 pixels, contain no image which attempts to portray the user as having an official status here (e.g. mimiking ranks or copying avatars of team members), and may not exceed 8KB (8192 bytes) in filesize.
            • Avatars must not contain or be comprised of images to which you do not own the copyright.
            • Offensive avatars will be deleted and the user warned ONCE. A repeat offense will result in a ban.
            • Avatars are subject to the same conditions as posts with respect decency, etc.

              • Posting Images
                • Images must be no longer than 640 pixels along their longest edge, and no more than 100KB in size. Remember, there are over 6,000 registered users on this site, and with over 30,000 unique individuals visiting this site each month, there are many many people accessing this site via dialup. Please be considerate of dialup users. If your image is larger than 640 pixels along its longest edge, please LINK to that image instead of posting it inline. Offending posts will be altered by a moderator.

Just a note on Posting Images, a new rule is to be enforced as from now. NO feeding pictures which involve mammals, or other reptiles being consumed are allowed. This has had to be enforced, as recently, more and more pictures have been posted, which seem to offend people, especially when a lizard is eating another lizard, and some people on the site keep the lizard which is being eaten as pets. Moderators will remove these pictures upon seeing them, and the user will be warned. Insect feeding pictures are fine.
