I got a baby sulcata about a week ago, and I'm taking her to school with me. Right now she's this big: I was wondering, what kind of growth rate should I be expecting? I feed her wheatgrass everyday, with some veggies or fruit once a week. I keep her under a heat and UV lamp, and soak her every morning for about twenty minutes.
Here are some websites to check out: http://www.toteachscience.com/sulcata.html http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cl...;articleid=2434 http://www.anapsid.org/sulcata.html http://www.anapsid.org/sulcata.html http://home.earthlink.net/~rednine/sulcatacare.html
Well, he'll grow based on what he's eating. I'd ditch the veggies and just go with greens and grasses. Our Sulcata is around 2 1/2 years old now, and huge compared to many we've seen his age (and twice his age). Now he lives outdoors, gets as much grass as he wants to eat, along with a daily salad of greens (romaine, collards, dandelion greens, spring mix, etc) and Rep-Cal tortoise pellets (which he LOVES).
Well its really a wonderful and sort of unique one and for millions of years mud turtles have shared the planet with many species including our ancestors, and it is our legacy to see they continue to survive and thrive during the years to come. <a href="http://www.tortoisefacts.com/">tortoisefacts</a>
