Anoles are not sociable crestures. They will NOT enjoy handling, period. Some people say their anoles do enjoy handling, but the fact is, they are most probably just enjoying your body heat.

They are more of a look but don't touch reptile. Anoles are very small and fragile herps, and to them you are a giant, who wants to eat them, and there is not much you can do to change that. After a period of time, they may come to terms with you feeding them or whatever, but they will most likely scarper anytime you go near them.

Handling anoles is very stressful to them, and may have undesired consequences in their future. If you have anymore questions on the care of anoles etc, please be sure to ask :D Luke.

I agree with luke. they are a "look not touch" pet and cannot be tamed like some monitors

Zuberok, it doesn't "stink" lol i love my anoles, and find them a really enjoyable species to keep. Also, Anoles will rarely bite. They COULD bit i suppose, but they just tend to scarper.

And calebwest, i have replied to your pm.

Sometimes they fall asleep on you.

SPJ, anoles really shouldn't be handled. It stresses them out. Few people believe their anoles actually enjoy it, but many of us agree that they are extremely stressed by handling. The anole you are holding there is NOT enjoying your company, but enjoying your body heat. They are very fragile also, and just because they are green, does by no means mean that they are happy.

That guy was originally scheduled to be a feeder. He got a reprieve and is now living in the lap of luxury. All he needs to do is let me use him to scent a pink once a week and he gets all the crickets and mealies he can eat. :D

That does not by any way make him any less worthy of leading a stress free life, just because you 'saved him.' I am not trying to say stop handling your anole, i am just trying to put accross WHY they shouldn't be handled. It is after all your choice whether you decide to listen to it or ignore it.

Yeah, its up to you. IF you want to give her the life that she deserves, then dont handle it. IF you handle it and cuddle with it, then fine. its your anoles funeral.

Well he needs to get handled. I use him for scenting. It's either he takes 10 minutes out of the week to do his job or he becomes the meal. I think he would prefer the 10 minutes a week routine.

I wouldn't be too sure. If handling is stressing him that much... Also, how many food items do you have to scent? Surely you could do it in a less amount of time? Also, i just want to reliterate what i have said before. Just because he was meant to be a feeder, doesn't give you the right to reduce his quality of life just because you think you are doing him a 'Favour.'

Anyway, i think this thread has come to an end, the author has been banned and it serves no purpose to anyone anymore.
