Its the shell of my new baby hermanns, a friend bred some and I had to have one. He/she is currently in quarentine but I noticed a shell "deformity"

Im just concerned of a possible health issue, eating and poops have all been normal as well as drinking and daily activity so it might just be aesthetic. {I hope} I think its distinguishing :D

Probably happened in incubation. I have a turtle who has a two scutes where one should be, nothing wrong with it health wise.

Maybe in the wild it might make that part of the shell structurally weaker to animal teeth, but it wouldn't handicap a pet.

extra scutes dont affect any bit of their health. i hatched out 2 painted wood turtles, one had 3 on one side, 6 on the other!
