Anoles can be frightened by their own image. He may think it's another anole. Can you change the angle of the light or put paper around the tank... anything to cut down on the reflection. You may find that's all it takes for him to spend more time outside the tank.

Yeah, when they are brown its generally a sign of high stress, and they will usually turn green at night. Mine was like that for a while, until I finally gave him proper lighting. Does your's have proper lighting?

Good to hear? Did you ever get a uvb light? If not i can personally recommend ESU Slimline...It costed me like 40 dollars.

Normally you would want a heating lamp as well, to set up a basking spot. It will burn them if its excessively hot.

As for the uvb light...Anything would work as long as it emits uvb.

ok it turns out the thing i thought was a ubv bulb wasnt actual a uvb bulb i just bought an actual uvb bulb a week ago however my anole is still lazy and brown .the temp is fine and so is the humidity. i have one fake plant in the tank a large jungle vine thing. a bending large branch thing. i use zoo med exto earth substrate. he eats fine and drinks fine. he goes to the bath room reguarly. gut load all his crickets.should i get more green plants and see if that helps. or should i just try to get him to a vet.

i wold try some plants first. is there a spot for him to cool down in? in none of this helps i would take him to a vet. wait is he eating and pooping cause if he is hes prbly ok. but if u have a herp vet near i would do it anyways.
