I had a mini heart attack looking at this post. Large cage (wood and not glass!), burrowing substrate, DIGITAL thermometer and hydrometer, high enough temps and humidity.........I'm going to go weep with joy now.

Quick question...and judging by your setup I probably don't need to ask...but what kind of UVB bulb are you using? I can see you have two dome lamps; is one a MVB? Only reason I'm asking is they look pretty close to the basking spot. Just wanted to make sure if it's an MVB that it's safely 12" away. Okay, nagging Cammy will leave you alone now. Looking forward to more pics as they grow!

I have a halogen 50 watt bulb(from wally world) and two regular bulbs a 50 and a 200(the 200 hundred is on a temp control and used to up the ambient temps as well as supply extra lighting to the cage.
UVB while it can be beneficial to monitors is not required. When I add the next 8 or so feet to the cage(as aggression is starting to take it's toll during feeding then I will be adding one to have a constant sunlight simulation in the large enclosure

Welcome to the boards = )

Love the photos and the names... very cute! You clearly did plenty of research and really care about your pets, always refreshing to see new members like you.

The monitor and tegu forum doesn't see a lot of action around here, but it does get some attention from time to time. Nice knowing we have a person on board who knows a thing or two about savs to contribute knowledge and experience to those who need it.
