i have a bit of a problem with maintaining a good humidity level for my anole. i spray the tank often (approx. 3 times a day) and the humidity level will rise to around 85%-90% for an hour. After that the humidity level seems to shoot right down to around 50%. I have a 10-gallon tank with one anole, good substrate, lots of plants, a water dish..the whole shabang. Is there anything else that I can do to ensure a high level of humidity throughout the day?

    What substrate do you use?

I am using a Jengle Bed substrate..I was told that it is the best substrate for maintaining humidity for anoles.

Use organic potting soil and keep it moist. Did a pet store employee tell you that? They do that to make you buy useless produckt like water diches and whatnot.

Yes, you want to use a substrate which absorbs the water well, like organic potting soil as plmarsq8 has suggested.

The jungle bed you have is most probably a bark-type substrate? If so, chuck it out, right away. Not only is it poor at maintaining humidity, it is also a breeding ground for bacteria.

Also, bark is an indigestible substrate which can cause impactions and ultimately, death.

no, i definitely strayed away from the bark types haha...the substrate i have now holds moisture well and everything, but the humidity still falls??
