My mealworms turned into beatles so thought I would see if I could raise a few. But was wondering if they can be put in oatmeal or some other thing as bedding? I live remote so not easy to just run to a store to buy something. I am not trying to raise bunches just thought it would be fun to let the kids see if they can raise them. I have read care sheets and most say bran flakes but I am looking for something I might already have. Thanks Cindy

Mealworm darkling beetles thrive in bran. They lay eggs there so try not to shake or move any bran. If beetles are on there back try your best to get around all the others and get him up. Or it may die. Mealworm babies are super small. So do not expect to see any for along time.

It does not require much nutrition compared to bran, turkey feed and others
