    Hi,

You're doing a good thing educating yourself about your new pet! I love Hermanns and am thinking about getting one myself. I'd direct you to Austins Turtle Page for specifically hermann care and http://www.tortoisetrust.org/articles/articles.html for general tortoise requirements.

Think edible flowers and weedy greens. I'd make a salad of dandelion greens, escarole, endive and (occasionally) kale as a staple. I'd also invest in a couple potted plants that you can grow for his diet, making sure they're pesticide free. Hibiscus are easy to grow in hot/warm climates and most will readily eat the flowers and leaves. Also sometimes the store has an edible flower variety in the veggie area near the fresh herbs. De-spined cactus pads would be a good treat too. There are also some places online that sell bags of edible flowers but they're kinda pricey because they die fast.

This website has a list of edible flowers: http://www.anapsid.org/resources/edible.html

    So does this website http://www.turtlestuff.com/shop/?shop=1&cat=69

I had fun going to the local nursery, printing out the list of plants, and finding the edible ones by scientific name :)

    Hi,
I dont know much about torts but my local reptile centre breeds them.
May be it's the angle of photo but I dont see a hide box, if you haven't then I would recommend you do. All the tort tables in shop have a hide big enough for them to get into, away from the heat and light.
It's just a thought, if you have one fair enough.
