my sav cage

    my cage has sand ,sphygmus moss and soil. i have had a lot of mushrooms growing in it lately, has this happened to anyone else and will it hurt my baby if i dont pull them out?

    Hi ,glad u got so many replies !
    Whats ur temps and everything , like cool end , warm end and basking spot ?
    Never heard of mushrooms growing in a sav enclosure before , maybe too damp and cool ?
    Usually people keep savs way 2 dry (no soil etc ) and dehydrate them to death !
    Post a bit more info and see what people have got 2 say .

    Dont know how I missed this post, sorry.
    I've never heard of mushrooms growing in a tank before.
    What I would suggest is that you replace it, if it has mushroom spores in it, it could have some other nasties.
    In the mean time I would remove the mushrooms, assuming they are mushrooms and not other fungi, which may be dangerous to your sav's health, should he decide to eat them.
    Not sure if you can get it where you are but sterile topsoil sold in bags at garden sections in the big stores would be better.
