I KEEP HEARING ABOUT THE NATURAL FEAR THAT BEARDIES HAVE OF CATS. BUT MY LITTLE GUY JUST LOVES MINE. HE FOLLOWS THEM AROUND TO WHATEVER SIDE OF THE TANK THEY ARE ON, AND TRIES TO GET OUT. AND IF THEY SLEEP UP AGAINST THE TANK, HE WILL CURL UP ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PLASTIC AND SLEEP AGAINST THEM. THEY SEEM TO WANT TO GET IN THERE AS WELL, BUT I DON'T THINK THEIR INTENTIONS ARE SO PURE. HE LOOKS AWFULLY CUTE WHEN HE SEES A CAT PASS BY THOUGH.
Heh, thats kinda cute. Mine only does that when... nevermind, she never does that. I think wild caught ones have the fear, but not if they are brought up living in a controlled environment with them.
hi this is keith.I have 9 beardies and 2 cats and none of my dragons are afraid of my cats which they where all cb.My large adult male beardie actually chases my cats around my house they play together. The cat checks the beardie out and the beardie snaps and chases him around the house it is quit fun to watch.Well seeya later.
IT IS PRETTY CUTE. MAYBE WHEN HE'S GROWN I'LL INTRODUCE THEM OUTSIDE OF HIS HOUSE, BUT I THINK THEY'D MAKE BREAKFAST OUT OF HIM NOW. HE'S JUST A BABY! THANKS FOR WRITING BACK!
The first time I introduced Koori (BD) to Mr. Bizwas (cat) Koori stuck her tounge up his nose scaring the crap out of him..... funniest thing I've seen.... the cat jumped straight up in the air and freeked out..... Poor Mr. the next time he saw her he was full of static and got his nose zapped again. So now he's pretty cautious around her now and won't let her get too close..... Koori Is Queen!!!!!
Beardies do not have a natural fear of ANYTHING. They are completely fearless when they hatch, and they don't have any fears unless their keepers give them good reason to (an experience stresses them out, or injures them, they learn to fear it). Cats, however, are natural predators, and WILL eventually attack a smaller reptile such as a bearded dragon. This is why it's not a real great idea to mix reptiles & cats/dogs - Not unless you want to risk the lives of at least one of them.
Cats and herps don't mix. It's not a question of "if" but of "when"... Read this short article by Dr. Alfonso DVM http://mythicalchameleons.com/vetcases.htm#cats
