Picked up this pair of 'designer' Cali kings at the Wasatch Reptile Expo... they're cute little buggers, but they're only too eager to musk when handled. I'm super excited, I've been looking at getting some kingsnakes for awhile. I wanted to get some mexican black milksnakes but they didn't have any that I felt were worth the asking prices...

killer deals on 'em, too! $20 each... there were a few other females but their patterns weren't as interesting.

heh, none of my beasties are color-coordinated... yet! These two are my first 'matched' pair! Their names are super goofy, the female is Yogurt and the male is Pudding...

scratch that, the female escaped last night and is nowhere to be found... but the cats sure are super intent on sitting by the snake room, so I highly doubt the snake made it out alive

it sucks, we've torn the whole reptile room apart, and move the fridge and stove to check, all of the cupboards have been checked and all closets triple-checked... short of dissecting the cats to find out what's in their stomachs, we're ready to stop actively searching and just see if she turns up...

So our cat Squidget started meowing all funny in the kitchen and trying to get at something over by the stove, so we took it apart trying to find the snake... no luck there, but she was kinda freaking out still and acting funky, so we pulled some old boxes out from under our prep table and BANG! little snake starts whipping across the floor!

so the escapee is back in her shoebox, and another shoebox is stacked on top so it's weighted down... I am *soooo* relieved!

I don't plan on breeding them. I don't feel the need to, since there are so many 'hobby breeders' already.

I love 'em... they're so different personality-wise, even now. The male is even more laid back than my young corns, but the female will musk you lik there's no tomorrow and totally spaz if you even put your hand in her box...

were i work we got 4 in last night :D
i couldnt resist.. i just had to get one....:p
my price was 40$ so i coulnd pass that up..

i got the meanest one too :(

we never house more then 4 hatchlings in a tank..(they sell fast too)

so we tryed to put all 4 in one tank and the one i got instantly latched on to one and started try to constrict it..

so we removed it and put in a few more hides and tryed again.. and BAM! same snake struck the same other snake..

so after a getting him/her off the poor other guy "Meanie" went back into his/her shipping box till i took it home..:p

he/shes in a 10 gal till tonight when i can drag my 30gal down...
