My Young Black Mexican Kingsnake decided today that he was not only going to eat his rather small pinky mouse backwards, but he wasn't going to kill it either! I've only had him for three weeks, and his other two pinkys he ate the correct way and made sure it was dead. This time he didn't even bother to kill it he just began swallowing it butt first! How much can this harm him? I'm Kinda worried about him. Are there any ways to prevent him from eating it backwards.....Or alive for that matter!
I'm Starting to wonder if Kings just like to eat their prey alive sometimes. A friend of mine has a Cali King that eats his food alive sometimes as well.
My older MBK rarely constricts his prey anymore. I always figured it was because he always gets F/T, but I gave him a live fuzzy once, and he swallowed it live. He also always seems to start from the middle, and it takes him a while to move around to one end to swallow head or butt first.
