    RE: oUCH!

I've only heard stories of superworms biting. I've never personally been bitten, and I've tried to get them to bite me to see if the rumors were true. They do have strong, pointy legs that can give you a good squeeze. Either that or I have been bitten and it's so gentle that I didn't notice. I guess I'm just tougher than most people :)

    Hello

    Hello,

Supers don't really bite, but they do have little pinchers on the front by their mouths. They use that to grab onto things, so, you can feel them pinch a bit just trying to hold on if you grab them by the head just right.
They are gentle worms for the most part. LOL

    Hello

    Hello,

Yeah, I know, it is completely insane!! I have personally seen them chew their way through things too, it is crazy!! Just don't give them a reason to think your finger is food I guess! ;)
We had way too many supers awhile back, & I wasn't thinking & had my bins too full & of course some inevitably climbed out!! Well, I had superworms pupaes everywhere, of course. Then, I also had beetles coming out from places I had no idea where they came from!!
I could hear the supers moving around one day, & they had actually chewed through some sheetrock, can you believe that? Strange!!
The supers are extremely hardy & live a long time if kept correctly. They never die, I swear! It takes them awhile to grow, but once they are adult sized, they live a long time.

    Hello

    Hello,

Ah, that is very nice of you thanks!! I just try to be as helpful as possible. :D
Those superworms can live through pretty much anything!! They are crazy worms, & yeah, I guess they do deserve their name "super" worms!!

    Good luck.

    RE: Hello

I once had a stash that I wasn't using (change of leo's appetite) so I just left them completely alone to see how long it'd be until they died. No changing gutload, no moisture, nothing. After about 6 months 90% were still kicking! So they are a very tough worm. But apparently very tasty as well. I think they're far superior to mealworms for that reason. No pupating into beetles and damn near impossible to kill.

    Agree

    Hello,

I completely agree, they are darn near impossible to kill even trying to! They wont pupate while in feed, either if it isn't completely dark. So strange. They are very hardy!!
Interesting no fresh gutload, or moisture & they still survived!! It is too bad humans aren't that hardy!! WE haven't evolved long enough I guess. :D

    RE: Agree

Hi, i've got a question while we are on the subject. I've got a tub full of superworms, getting ready to breed them. The only ones i could find were the large size locally. If i breed the large size they will be small to start out with right? I just want to make sure because i plan on feeding them to my leo.

btw, they look really creepy as a pupa...

cuz once they turn into beetles
    they have happy hour. then...
they lay eggs. then babys !! yay
then the circle of life kicks in..

awww thats a cute beardie ;p i knew i shoulda gotten a bearded dragon... i ono i love my gecko tho =) yah my leopard is liking them too... i try rotating from mealies, supers, and on occasion crickets. im breeding my own mealies but i just started trying to breed my supers... i bouht 50 just 3 days ago... they r so much more active so they seem a better staple food.
