Right later down the line in my life, possibly 6 months or less I would like to possibly have an anole as my pet.
    Just a few questions :
    1. I have a 2ft x 1ft x 1st tank, but no hood, could anybody point me into the direction of where to get one? (i would preferably like the lighting like DragonTU84 has) remember I live in the UK too.

    2. What's the best substrate for a anole?

    3. How much do anole cost, both female cost and male cost?

    4. What are the known diseases for a female anole?

    5. What would the best UV light be? (look at DragonTU84's enclosures on the pictures of enclosures, to see how I want my light set.)

    6. What do they eat? Fruit Flies? Fruit? Vegetables etc

    7. How many plants should I enclose in the tank?

    8. How far away does the basking spot need to be for the anole?

So if you guys could answer those questions that'd be great.

Any female anole members get in touch with me as I think I like them better then the males.

Hey Slakey, i'm glad you decided on the anole.

    1. a 24X12" hood can be gotten at pets @ home for around £17.

    2. Organic potting soil is the best substrate for anoles.

    3. In the UK, you're looking at £5-10 for the lizard, regardless of sex.

    4. Anoles as a species are usually brought into the pet trade from the wild. Many die in transit, but those who do make it are usually in poor health exept for a few. Many will need to be de-wormed or gived treatment for parasites. Look for an anole which is most active, and looks of a healthy weight.

    5. I always use the repti-glo 5.0 or 8.0 tubes in my anole tanks.

    6. They are insectivores, and i find they get on best with a staple diet of dusted crickets.

    7. Anoles like a lot of foilage. Basically if one part of the tank looks empty, you'll need more plants

    8. That all depends on what your temperatures are. You'll need a bulb guard too.

Hope this helps, any more questions, feel free to ask :(

A basking light can be a normal incandescent bulb, and then you'll need a UV tube. That's the only lighting you'll require.
