My son was holding our green anole, and my husband had just heated up some hot coffee. Shortie, jumped into the hot coffee. My son got her out as quick as possible, and I ran to the sink and ran cold water over her.

The poor thing was in shock. We put her in a bowl, separated from our other anole, with some easy liner in it. It is for lining shelves. It is rubbery, and has holes in it, and is soft. After a few hours, she was able to crawl up this material.

We put some of this in her terrarium, since it is soft, and easy to climb on, and put her back in with sniper.

This happened two days ago. She developed blisters on her hind legs and all of her little feet were burned. The front feet seem to be getting better, but the hind feet can't grab yet.

This morning, I noticed her right hind foot was bleeding. She was on one of the artificial plants, which are not as soft as the real one. In fact, they are quite scratchy.

I am amazed that the poor little thing survived, and how fast she is healing. We have been giving her water droplets from our hands, and hand feeding her crickets. She is able to move around.

Is there anything I can or should be using on her limbs?

    Thanks for any advice.

Sorry to hear about that accident :p
One thing that can help the burns heal would be to apply neosporin or some other triple antibiotic ointment. Make sure it is the plain type and not one with pain relief added.

Thanks-I did that. I was afraid to use anything, because I know some things that are good for us can be toxic to critters!

    Update on Shorty

Update on Shorty: We took her to the vet yesterday. The vet thinks she'll be fine. She gave us some Chlorahexadrine solution to mix with warm water. We soak her extremities in it with cotton balls at least once a day. And we took out the fake grass at the bottom of her terrarium, and the one fake plant that was really rough. The vet suggested a really soft cloth. I put 2 soft dish towels in the bottom of the terrarium.

Shorty kept making her injuries bleed, so this should help. The vet said she she may lose a few toes, but she should be a lot better in 10 days or so.
