We were at Home Depot toay to see about getting some soil for substrate. We found Black Soil (all natural with peat moss and sand) an an organic soil (with vermiculite and perlite). Would either of these be okay? I wasn't sure about the perlite or the sand. Thanks.

Get the one without the vermiculite and perlite in it. Perlite has chemicals in it that helps plants grow, but isn't very good for animals if they ingest it.

So make sure u just get regular potting soil without all the lil white bits in it :)

So the black soil with peat moss and sand mixture is okay then? I was just a little concerned since I know they aren't supposed to be on a sand substrate in case they ingest it. The small quantity will be okay for them then?

Yeah, should be fine... and a sand/soil mix should help with egg-laying... Easier to dig into...

In fact, for bearded dragons, a sand/soil mix is specifically made up for the females to dig into and lay eggs with most breeders I know, as it helps hold in the moisture..

So yeah, I'd say it'd be great for an anole substrate too.

Thanks, I'll pick it up tomorrow. I've been wanting to go to soil, but everything I was finding had fertilizer or some other chemical in it. Glad I finally found a good one.:)
