my lovebirds finally mated successfully!! pardon my messy room! busy summer and wanted to take a pic of this little one immediately!
So, they had eggs and hatched then too!!!?? I thought this might just be about how you saw them mate, but it seems from this the eggs were laid and this little cutie hatched? Awesome!!! Can you please post everything you did for this great success?! I do want to try to get another female that will be appropriate for breeding. And is this the first hatchling? How many eggs were laid? I'm not sure if you know also, but Rhubarb greatly improved and has been well and eating on his own for a few weeks, so I put him back in his normal tanks with the frogs just a few days ago Thank you for all your help with that too! In the end, I got some Fluker's eye drops that seemed to clear him up and for awhile I had to syringe feed him a reptile nutritional stimulent until he became well again.
Nice I heard they can be hard to get to mate and breed in captivity. What are you feeding the tiny baby?
Yes, he was rather ill actually. I'm not sure a lot of people on here heard, since my main thred I posted about wasn't exactly titled implying it was about him being sick, though people still found it and helped and I'm glad they did! I also haven't been on here much since then with summer to say much, but here's the thread about him being sick: http://www.reptileboards.com/threads/disinfecting-tank-pic-heavy-some-graphic-content.65240/ It's odd to see how bad he looked just a few months ago and I'm so glad he's improved to seemingly his normal state! My current profile picture is from just a few days ago and that's how he is now, back to eating on his own and being himself!
Yep, he was my starter for reptiles last year and I've learned they maybe should be classified more "intermediate" than "beginner" like they usually are. I started him off in a normal 10G tank too, but I'm glad he has a better tank with more height and everything now-a lot of times on those care sheets from the pet stores, they tell you the absolute minimum of care and sometimes even tell you false information to get you to buy more.
