I live in the Northern Territory.

I've always liked snakes but growing up never had a chance to have one (mum hates them) I got into them when a mate moved in up the road. He has dimonds, carpets, childrens and a black head. He was the one that got me into them enough to get one of my own. And as I'm an adult I can have what ever I bloody want :) .....when the wife lets me :)

Oh cool......i live in Melbourne. I lived in S.A for a while though :D
I've never known anyone that has had a snake for a pet. I also have a Great Southern Rock
Scorpion....really want a Rock Scorpion (think that's what it's called) but i don't have room at the
    moment.
Do you find the daytime temp. affects the tank's temp a lot? Is Bob in a shaded corner away from a window?

When I'm at work I leave the fans on to circulate the air. When we are at home we turn the aircons on. His enclosure is about three meters away from the AC. The heat light comes on when the aircons have been running awhile but its a 100w globe and it keeps the cage at a good temp.

Do you have a pedastal fan or something that just moves the air around in front of Bob's tank?
Should you put a mesh or something similar protective around the heat lamp/s?
My place at the moment only has a air cond. in my bed room and in the "dinning room" and the dinning room is a high traffic
area.....not too sure what i should be doing. I really only have one place to put my snake.....

I just keep the ceiling fans on and there is a mesh cage around the globe.

Sorry to answer your question so late, Storm, but when Tommi, my little Children's python bites (which by the way is happening less and less) it doesn't hurt.

    our children's python, penny

our children''s python is about a year and very docile - active and curious but not aggressive. she has beautiful markings - tan base with darker brown/coal spots. my understanding about the difference between the two species':
    -approx. same size
    -different markings
-ball tends to be more shy
-balls tend to be pickier eaters than children's
-children's are generally a bit easier to care for given temperament and eating habits
