Hello, I'll try to keep this brief. I have had single anoles before. But this year I decided to get 2, her in January and him recently in early April. They do mate quite easily...almost immediately & ,in this case, quite often ('cept she seems to be the aggressor). Pretty sure that everything is set for eggs. My Problem: When it comes to feeding time, he eats everything I put in the tank before she has a chance. (mealworms, pinheads, fruitflies) The other day, I put him in the smaller tank so she could eat, but, she WOULDN'T. Just kept looking around. I had all her faves in there that she used to pounce on. But she did nothing until I put him back in with her. He ate 2 pinheads & a worm, THEN she chomped a worm. My Question: How do I keep from overfeeding him while making sure that the 'mother to be' is well fed? I'm telling you, these 2 are inseparatable. Thanks for any help jopogo
I don't know much to nothing about anoles, but with other reptiles you are supposed to have more than 1 female with a male otherwise it causes stress on the female.
OK, after many variations of the same experiment...him out, she in ...she out him in etc. Trying to make him full... I have come to realize that they are better at being lizards than I am. I decided to stop micro-managing their relationship, after all, they figured out how to survive before me (anoles). I will simply be a good steward. Tank: Clean, warm, humid, full of enviromentaly friendly attractions & tasty critters. Let nature take it's course. They are healthy, happy, and a crap load of fun to watch. Trust in the reptile to find it's way.
i used to have a pair were the male always ate alot but i found that if you feed every other day and feed in greater amounts that the females can get some more crickets and if you have multiple females they are less stessed i have a 1.2 group and its seems to work out nicely, Good Luck
