    i was wondering :?:
    how big do anoles get?
    can i use a 10 gal tank?
how often should/can you handle them?
are males or females better pets?
    how many questions was that?

Make sure that if you get 2, that 1 is male and 1 is female. If you get 2 males, they will fit to the death unless there is enough room.

If you get two I recommend females only... unless you want lots of eggs. A 10 is okay for 1 (minimum space), but still a little on the small side IMO. They have fairly large areas in nature and they like to run and climb. I have one in a 29G, but it used to be two in there. They grow to about 8 or 9 inches (including the tail which accounts for almost 2/3 of their size). I don't recommend handling them. They are very skittish and move quickly... just try chasing one when it gets away from you while you're trying to clean it's enclosure. Some people say they can handle theirs, but I don't know if they started with babies that adjusted well or not. If you want more than one females are better, but if it's only one it doesn't really matter.

I have four in a 35 gallon tank. However if you get more than one go for females. Unless of course you want lots of babies! Those things just keep going and going. I don't handle mine either. I tried to once and ended up chasing her all over the dining room for twenty minutes!

I actually have 5 in a 29g enclosure, but I provide alot of brand room, alot of fake plants and a good amount of females (i think 2). So there is not alot of fitting.

Sometimes you can find babies at the shows as well. You could also try classified ads in your local paper for the tanks.

i built my anole enclosure to best fit my needs and my 2 anoles needs. it was only like $20 and they love it. also the wood frame allows you to more easily attach things without glue by screwing the into the frame. i bought my anoles at a local pet store for about $6. good luck.

    2 is the maximum for a 10g.
