alright so im thinking about 2-3 cresteds for breeding...i have a 20 gl tall already....what should i have in there for them......what should the setup be? thanks -aaron
before you even think of breeding them you should keep one or 2 for a couple of years to make sure you are interested enough in them to actually breed them
fair enough. they are pretty easy to care for room temp 20gal tall for an adult females can be housed together and seem to enjoy each other's company males need to be housed alone im not sure what humidity they need, i just spray my tank a couple times a day and all they need to eat is the premade powder we call cgd here is a good site for buying food and getting information http://www.pangeareptile.com/
I'm looking to get some Crested's next year after my last few died last year. The Exo Terra Rainforest Habitat Kit Medium 45x45x60cm, [http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/habitat_kit_rainforest.php] is something I've been looking at its only £104 which is great value for what it is, that should be enough for 3 cresteds or so. I'll pick up some Adults rather than Hatchlings.
CGD is the best thing you could feed your Cresties. It gives them the proper nutrition, and it's easier than having to guess with the crickets/baby food My little guys seem to love it!
IMO- 20 gal is "ok" for a mating pair or 2 females... but if you do get a pair you will need to seperate them for a couple months every year so the female can get her calcium and vitamin stores back up (so she doesn't over breed). Hm... royal, one of those tanks is an awesome idea, I would only put 2 cresties in there though, not three. In general 1 crestie should have 15 gallons minimum (height is the dimension that matters), 10 gallons absolute minimum... That's pretty cool that you can buy it all in a ready made kit tho!
