I was thinking about getting a spiny tailed iguana. I found one at a PetCo (I know.......careful with the chain pet stores.) He looks REALLY healthy and active. They are asking $35 for him. He's about 6 months old. It looks like their care is similar to a beardy? SO....I know I shouldn't believe what their care sheets say. (He may not actually even be a Spiny Tailed Iguana...he has a REALLY long smooth tail......no spines on it.) He does have the stripes and his head and body look like the pictures I've seen. I have read though that they may be very aggressive and un-tameable as an adult. Is this true? This one is handelable but not real happy about it. They say with handeling he'll calm down. Thanks for any advise.
I've handled an adult spiny tailed and it tried to kill me... they dont get all that big but they are strong! The tail should have spiny scales on it.. They are very hard to tame, Ive never seen a tame adult. But I'm not going to say it cant be done... There are better pets though so unless you dead set on this animal I'd consider somthing else. Is his set up at the pet store good? Hmmmmmm.......I'm thinking this isn't a spiny tailed Iggy then. (OH SURPRISE......a reptile mis-marked at PetCo! ) No spines on the tail and he's young but not green at all. He's all grey and black with a very long tail. What else could he be?
wel based on that he could be alot of things... Can you get a pic or a more detailed body description?
