Can any of you point me to the right direction? I am looking for the best known care sheet possible. I have seen a wide range of required temps, tank sizes, and feeding. I just want to make sure I get things right before I go and do anything stupid. please help if you can thx
i have never seen two consistent caresheets personally i keep the temps up at around 90 at the top of the cage during the day/evening cooler towards the bottom-with a 75 W red bulb i also have a heat mat against the glass for when the bulb is off during the night time i feed him every other day with 3-4 locusts mid to full sized plus occasional treats: roaches and superworms change his big water dish every few days, or whenever he poos in it! spray once or twice a day to keep the moisture levels up, a big water dish wil lhelp with this too i have soil and bark chippings as a substrate(which i put in a black plastic bag at the bottom of the cage-so as to stop the moisture getting to thge wooden viv, and make it easy to change and plenty of foliage, fake plants hollow logs, cork bark try and give him cover at every level i have a 70G tank upright, but i had him in a 40 G before, and he didnt mind too much the bigger the taller, the better really-but whatever you can manage. get a pair of gloves too for when handling is required
Re: RE: tokay experts Thank you very much on the insight.. Hopefully I won't be needing the gloves because I plan on finding a baby tokay at a reptile show in hopes of possibly taming it.
RE: Re: RE: tokay experts even so, id stil get the gloves, just in case ive heard it can be a nasty bite -perhaps stitches, and blood etc and they sometimes dont let go for hours and hours! ive never been bitten, but i give him th e respect he deserves
RE: Re: RE: tokay experts i do belive Tokay geckos can be tamed.. but i agree with brendy 100% get some gloves.. and work your way up to handleing him/her bare handed.. once you learn how your tokay acts you can almost tell what he/she is going to do next.. now i said "almost" not always at all.. my tokay got ahold of my index finger and i ended up with 3 stitches >.< but thats what you deal with with a tokay ^.^
