I have 2 Tokay geckos, that devour crickets no problems. They are a little slow to go after Waxies (as a treat maybe 2x a year). They dislike Goliath worms.. So, today I picked up 2 pinkies... One for him, one for her, or 2 for one What is the trick to get them to eat those 'lil fellows? The pinkies aren't to animated, so they aren't attracting much attention. When I put the pinkies on tongs, and try and feed them to the tokays, they just back away from them. I finally put the grub in their favorite verticle hide, hoping that they would spot the little critters waiting while just hanging around.. While I was waiting around, I decided to snap a pic, since the male and female were hiding out! (this is a verticle shot..altough you'd never know). Click here for the picture! Thanks for any info!
some tokays just outright dislike pinkies. It would help out the most if they are live I would assume and small as possible.
Yes, the pinkies were alive.... this morning, one was MIA, the other was DOA. I took out the dead pinkie, and replaced it with a very small fuzzie. Less than 20 minutes after the lights went out, my female Tokay was eating dinner I'm sure she won't eat now for a few days.....I'm going to keep my eye on her, and make sure that all is well. I'm cycling the tank now, as I'm trying to see if she'll lay eggs. The pair I bought laid eggs a week before I purchased them a year ago, but none since.
naa, that didn't work. They just backed away further and further from the pinkie... I decided to try a small fuzzy, since they at least move a little... Worked like a charm
