Hi, i live in east Iowa. my friend has all these tree frogs in his backyard and in his pool. they are not out much during the day but at night they literally dive out of the trees and into his pool. since i see them at night, i think they are green but I'm not 100% sure. could they just be green tree frogs or what?

A picture would help. That is not enough info.

They could be Gray Tree frogs. They range in color, from gray to green. There are a couple types.

Here is a link to the Cope's Gray Treefrog: http://www.enature.com/fieldguides/detail.asp?recnum=AR0557

Here's a link to the Gray Tree Frog: http://www.enature.com/fieldguides/detail.asp?recnum=AR0020

You might also check out the Western Chorus Frog: http://www.enature.com/fieldguides/detail.asp?recnum=AR0155

    and the Spring Peeper:

All four of those links have photos and recordings of them croaking. That should help you identify whether any of those four are correct.
