I'm just wonering if anyone has ever seen an anole get onto their basking spot (top of rock cave in this case) and start lifting all their legs repeatedly (like a cat pawing it's bed)? Then when I checke on her later, she was lying on the rock with both her back legs lifted so her feet were off the rock. I was wondering if maybe the rock surface had gotten too hot for her, but she was still a beige colour. Wouldn't she go somewhere else if the rock was too hot for her? By the way, it's not a heated rock cave and she is a brown anole... so beige is good.
One of our anoles used to do that, but I've a feeling it was because the rock was too hot. The fact that they're lifting their legs up implies they know it's getting a lil warm You could try moving the light a lil further away. That usually helps.
