I spray Zilla calcium supplement on mine and Angus eats it no problem. Also, I recently discovered he LOVES apple... especially the pieces you know are too big for him! If you hold them he will keep biting off as big a piece as he can handle until its gone.
My new guy wasn't eating but luckily we had a warm snap here and dandelions started growing. I gave him a couple a few days ago and it sparked his appetite. He has eaten a full bowl of spring mix and squash for the last 2 days.
Hm, might have to try apples too.... New kink in the chain.... apparently when I go away on a trip my Uro doesn't eat.... like anything. My husband was putting the lettuce mix I made up before I left for a week and he started to notice not a single thing was being eaten. So I told him to try some of the other random things we had in the fridge... and nothing! Not a single nibble. I seriously think that since I wasn't the one giving my little guy his food that he didn't eat. Crazy Uri! Sheesh!
I have noticed when they don't get fed within about 1 hr. of of their regular time they won't eat much at all. Maybe he should try feeding Uri before he wakes up so he doesn't see who fed him.
If my wife or daughter prepares the food, Nines won't eat. If my son or I do, Nines eats everything. ????????? Going to try apple for the first time tomorrow.
Three days of apple. Nines ate everything around the small slices but no apple. I'll give it it a couple of more days.
I noticed Angus mostly prefers the skin. He hasn't been eating anything out of the ordinary, but he has taken a couple absolutely HUGE dumps. Big enough its like... WTF dude how did you do that? Is this normal? Its MUCH bigger than ordinary. My mom comes in my place all the time (mostly because she loves Angus lol) and when I mentioned it to her she said she had found one like that too. But the other day I was working from home, and Angus is set up in my home office, and I heard a weird sound, like a wheezing, and checked on him and saw he was dropping a deuce. But afterwards I saw the size of it and was like... what the hell... and he was just looking at me like "what the F are you looking at?". Is this normal?
mr_andrew, lol, that is funny My biggest saharan female has laid down a couple of doosies herself. Next time i talk to Doug Dix i'll ask him.
my uros don't care for them I'll try again in a couple of months, this is what we do, keep trying things
Wel... Mr. Andrew... you do have the biggest Uro around.... if you know what I mean Lol sorry, Friday humor. But in all seriousness, you do have the biggest guy there, so maybe he's going to go into another growth spurt in the spring?
Haha thanks. That does make sense. And yeah I think your right about the growing. He is definitely growing in width! And still loving the apple! I skinned one today. I ate the apple, he got the peel. He can't get enough of the peel. He has also started shedding quite a bit, so you are probably right about the growing. His length needs to catch up to his girth! LOL!
....fat little Uro, lol. I have a feeling the mild winter last year really through off my little guy and this years spring is going to be a good one
Ah that could be the case! We barely got a winter last year too. This year has been MUCH more of a winter. Still a ways from spring yet though! Supposed to get nailed with a big snow storm tonight/tomorrow. There are ice pellets coming down now. Should be interesting. So I have seen online people soaking lentils overnight before feeding them to their uro, so I thought I would give it a try. I put them in there on a small plate, and Angus peeked up onto the rock where it was, and proceeded to try and eat the plate, paying no attention to the lentils at all! I ended up just putting them in my hand, and he devoured them out of my hand.
