The Subtympanic Scale, whats its purpose? You know the big scale on the Green Iguanas cheek. Does it have a purpose, or is it just there.
Ha. I was just thinking the same thing, cause one of my iggys scales sorta flattened out after a peel. So if anyone answers this will educate me as well.
i belive that they are there just to make them look more intimidating to predators. but i am not too sure
Ditto - when the iguana extends its dewlap, it makes the subtympanic scale looks like a large eye... which will hopefully scare the predator away. :-D
