She doesn't bark or scare away intruders, but my Cali King, E.T. does come out of her woodpile/cave that I made for her and wait to be taken out every night around 9pm (except when she's digesting a meal). I carry her and walk around my house after letting her get some excercise on the couch. She's really interested in our big black bookshelf. She even knows how to get back to her tank from the living room table (OK she needs a little help, and to be shown the right directions sometimes).

Reptiles are a great alternative to dogs, especially for those people allergic to furry friends (I'm not, but I know many reptile keepers who are).

My snake, every time I went away to camp for the summer, he would go mad. Would just curl up in a corner, rattled his tail whenever someone walked into the room, striked at any hand inside his home, gave dirty looks, and tore up the mice is he wasn't hungry.
As soon as I came back, he was a little angel again.
