I just purchased a yellow belly turtle from a reptile show, he is about the size of a half dollar coin. I have him in a 10 gal with a heat bulb and UVB and i have been feeding him small crickets, mealworms, rosy reds, and some collard greens and he doesnt seem to be eating o moving much. he is just limp, he isnt dead (yet at least) and im wondering if maybe this was just a bad choice in turtle like he was poor from the get go or if the stress of the new envionment is bothering him. What should i do besides seeing a vet. Every so often he will pick his head up and open his mouth like he is gasping for breath and then put it back down all limp like. im worried, i dont want him to die. the water temp is like 75-80, air temp with the basking bulb is like 80-85. he wont eat either.
He sounds like he has a respitory infection--the only way to save him is taking him to a vet. Make the right decision and don't sit idley by. Get him to a vet--he deserves life. Leslie
