    Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
These are just a few of the many exhibits in the Calgary zoo. Very few.
    Enjoy!

If your referring to the monitor laying on his belly in the dirt, I believe it is a crocodile monitor. That is unless they got something new since I left.

Now you have made me homesick and miss all my zoo buddies.

Neat pics! Is that the zoo where the giraffes and african animals come into a super huge building during the winter months? I think I saw an episode on Animal Planet about that zoo.

You can see the hangar doors in behind the giraffes. That lets them out into their big outdoor enclosure and they stay inside during the winter. Destination Africa is huge, can't remember off the top of my head how big the hippo pool is. And it probably was on animal planet. I haven't seen many of the shows but have been told they use the Toronot Zoo and the Calgary Zoo. Atleast the show on Discouvery Channel does.

    Awsome pictures!
When did you go down? You see the many of the babies?

I love the camel picture, most of the time I see them is before I start my shift there and they just stand around, but that picture makes it look cute.

I went the same day I posted the pics, Sun Aug 20. No, no babies - none were on display? The only one I was aware of was the baby gorilla that passed away.

Awww the baby gorilla died? Now I ask how is it I find this out from a visitor and not any of the girls I worked with? Or you Nicole? And the babies probably aren't really babies anymore, although there should be a baby giraffe on the way. Now I can't remember if it is this fall or next fall.

SORRY!!! I figured you would have known about that (You found out about the birth before I told you). :) It died August 17....

Baby Giraffe is comming this fall....october ish I believe.

Babys - baby elk, deer, snowy owls, musk ox, black tail prarie dog, swan, mountain goat, big horn sheep, dall sheep, caribou, Macaque and I think they also have a baby bat....... Those are the ones I can remeber off the top of my head. Most of them don't look to babish anymore, you are right... most of the birds are still grey coloured, and deer species are small and noticably young tho.
I saw some of them that morning before I went to work (Ones in canadian wilds), but they do like to hide in the back so it is hard to spot them.

That is a southern hognose. In the same enclosure was a GIANT rock python, unfortunately did not get a photo due to dirty-ness of the glass.
    Both were in shed.

And there were day geckos in with Pebbles, and the hog nose. The male was a little fat so he usually stayed down low. Disappeared one day and they couldn't figure it out. Then they caught the hognose eating the female a week or two later. Just another side note about that one enclosure.
