PIJAC Canada has already contacted officials at the British Columbia Ministry of the Environment, to express its strong concern over the unsettling proposed changes we perceive are being considered by the provincial government.
PIJAC Canada has provided government officials with a copy of Our Exotic Animal Policy, offering a sensible approach to the responsible ownership of exotic animals as pets.
PIJAC Canada is preparing a letter to Minister Penner to express our concerns and request an opportunity to have a proper consultation process with BC wildlife officials on this very important issue. We intend to impress on Minister Penner, the severe impact such a position could have on the British Columbia pet industry and a considerable number of British Columbia pet owners.
Write a letter to Minister Penner, voicing your strong concerns over these possible changes and requesting that his office take the time to conduct a consultation with the appropriate stakeholders before any action is taken. A copy of a sample letter is attached to this Alert for your consideration. Make sure you copy this letter to your government representative.
