hi im new to these forums, my leo recently has one eye closed alot, when i pick him up he tends to open it and the front seems cloudy and the back more clear i assume this is shedded skin stuck in the eye so i have been putting saline solution on it, my question is how ofter shall i put it on and when can i expect to see an effect?

Skin around the eye is pretty hard to get rid of because its such a small area the skin is tighter around it. I'd say do it 3 times a day and gently just pet over the eye. He'll close it and it should help loosen the skin and remove it. but your best bet is a Vet (reptile vet only please). They have the tools and know how to remove the extra skin. If it is extra skin. He could of also injured it against anything with an edge. If it doesn't get better in a few days get him to a vet asap. It could become infected and you do not want that its a messy ordeal. With an infection at the head, it can spread to the brain and cause death.

Another which is unlikely is a parasite. There are parasites that live inside the eye and can come from flies and even dirty water. But its very unlikely you have that. Its most likely a failed shedding.

LOL that happens. Mine bit my nose once when I sneezed and she was climbing up my neck but I scared the crap out of her.

Lol to the biting. Silly little pests :)

As to the eye cap... It's probably unshed skin, but don't wait too long to go to the vet, it can become infected fairly quickly. In addition to the saline solution I would suggest giving him or her a "bath" in warm water for about 10 to 15 minutes. Fill a small tupperware or shallow bowl to about a half inch (not above the level of just touching their belly).

went to the vet today, she said to keep giving the eye saline for a few more days and she will contact a specialist in Bristol and get back to me and she may need antibiotics, was kind of hoping that she would give me the antibiotics today because Bristol is 2 hrs away from me drive and i don't drive so getting there may be a problem :(
