My son found a baby snake on our driveway yesterday and, of course, wants to keep it. Very new to snake raising here so need some help!! First, I've looked at pics all over the internet but can't seem to find any of babies. So, this snake is about 3 inches long (maybe almost 4) and very slim (think toothpick width). He's all black on the top and sides with a red belly. I would assume that it is a garter snake because we have so many out here and since I have never seen a baby garter I can only guess what they look like. Also, if it helps, we live in southern Manitoba, Canada. Thanks in advance for any info!

not sure how to do this - don't have a website or anything so how do I go about getting pics on here? He doesn't have a "ring" around his neck however, after looking, he does have a little yellow on the sides of his neck! Interesting! Lol, thanks for the help!
