As a first time tegu owner, I would like to have as much information as possible about raising a baby tegu. I believe that my black and white tegu is a columbian but I'm not sure how to tell. He/she is currently only 12" from tip to tail and still very young. I feed him ground turkey sometimes cooked but mostly raw. Only had him for about a month. A few specific questions: 1. I saw a "how to pick your tegu" page, after I got mine, that said make sure its tail is rounded not pointy... something about being able to tell if they're CB I think... just wondering the meaning of that. I got him at a repticon and his tail is pointy.. 2. Is it true that columbian tegus are the only tegus that do not need fruits in their diets? 3. How rapidly does a baby col. tegu grow on a diet of turkey, who eat every to everyother day? How long until full grown. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWwkULoPyvg (Tegu eating) All comments welcome, the more I know the better.
